PROVISIONS LIBRARY: ART FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

Diana Guzijan: Art Amplifier

What if we could explore art through a collection of questions? What if every visitor would leave with more questions than answers? How would this change the impact of the experience?

My name is Diana Guzijan, I am an independent designer from The Netherlands. I hold a Master of Science in Industrial Design Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Design Education. In my work I apply my research on curiosity to create transformative experiences around art and cultural heritage sites.

At Provisions Library I will develop and test an intervention for the exhibition Faces of Resilience. The so-called Art Amplifier is a tool that stimulates the generation of questions. It collects our individual, personal observations and inserts them back into the exhibition, to be shared and used for further discussion. Because once you start looking from different perspectives, everything changes.

In this project I follow the framework Vision in Product Design (ViP), an alternative to Design Thinking. ViP was developed by Paul Hekkert and Matthijs van Dijk at the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology. ViP structures the process of design while allowing designers to take a personal position and fully express themselves in producing a product. By doing so ViP is both a method and a design philosophy.
